Congratulations to Year 12 students Ulrika Wild and Macy Nichol who have been recognised with a Premier’s VCE Award for their outstanding academic results in 2020.Macy was one of three students across the state to recieve the award for Ancient History, and Uli was also one of three students across the state to recieve the award for German, which she studied via distance learning.
The two girls scored a 48 (out of a possible 50) in their respective subjects, which they both studied last year as Year 11's. The girls were among 297 students across Victoria recognised for their efforts during 2020 VCE, in what was a particular hard year for senior students, given the amount of disruption COVID-19 caused. Macy and Uli's achievements have attracted significant local media attention over the last few days, as the results are an exceptional feat for students in regional areas, and almost a rareity. Most of the VCE Premier Awards are taken out by students in metro areas, so to have two WHS students take out the top spot is a fantastic effort. Macy and Uli have been busy today and yesterday with photo shoots and interviews with both the Wangaratta Chronicle and the Border Mail.Macy and Uli extend their utmost thanks to not only their VCE teachers, but all their teachers since Year 7. Each and every one of the girls' teachers has made an impotrant impact, and helped the girls' achieve what they have today.
The entire Wangaratta High School community is proud of both girls, and would like to congratulate them on being the recipients of such a prestigious award.
