Starting Secondary School at Wangaratta High School
Starting secondary school is an exciting new chapter – full of opportunity, growth and change. At Wangaratta High School, we understand that the transition to Year 7 is a big step not just for students, but for families too. That’s why our enrolment and orientation program is carefully designed to provide clarity, support and a sense of belonging from the very beginning.
We encourage parents and carers to be actively involved in preparing for this important transition. Attending our information sessions, talking regularly with your child about what to expect, helping them become familiar with their new school environment, and building confidence in practical things – like organising books, managing a timetable, or catching the bus – can all help your child feel more ready and settled.
Our team works closely with local primary schools to share important information and ensure continuity of support. We also offer opportunities for students to visit the school, meet key staff, and connect with future classmates before Day 1. Once school starts, our focus is on wellbeing, connection and confidence – with programs in place to help every student feel safe, supported and seen.
